Smith House
Located at 315 High Street, the Dr. Richard Smith House was constructed in
1692 by Philadelphia carpenter Joseph Scattergood, and is one of the
oldest buildings in Burlington. Smith and his
family were influential in early Burlington commerce and politics.
The building was later occupied by banker and two-term mayor William R. Allen.
The Smith House's first floor is now occupied by an art gallery, with
the remaining floors serving as private residences.
